Dover Museum and Bronze Age Boat Gallery is home to a large collection of historical artefacts relating to the local area, including the world’s oldest known seagoing boat discovered nearby in 1992. There are three permanent exhibits – Archaeology Gallery, Dover History Gallery and the Bronze Age Boat Gallery – and one temporary exhibition gallery which changes yearly. 2020’s exhibition will be about the Dunkirk evacuation. New for this year are several electronic display terminals giving visitors a closer look at the highlights of our collection.
Children visiting the museum particularly love our famous polar bear known as ‘Fred’ and the hands-on laboratory area of the boat gallery
We also host six free family activity days every year, offering arts and crafts on a range of topics. Themes for 2020 include ‘Countries and Flags’ and ‘Fantasy and Medieval’.
Open from 16 September. Pre-booking required. Refer to website for details.
